Both budgets are available for review on the district website HERE. They are also on file for public inspection at the district office. The public hearing will be streamed live on the district’s YouTube channel.

Last Day of School
The last day of school is one week away! Classes will be held IN-PERSON for all students on Friday, May 27, except for those who attend half-day kindergarten on the east side of the district. The school day will follow the district’s Minimum Day Schedule

The district is required by state law to hold classes on the final day of the school year. Holding the last day of school in-person is necessary because some students won’t have access to their Chromebooks at home to complete work online.

Buses will run on their normal Monday-Thursday pickup schedule on May 27 and the school day will begin at the Monday-Thursday start time. Drop-off times will coincide with Minimum Day release times listed in the link above. School meals will be provided on May 27.

Graduation
Ashley Valley Education Center will hold its graduation ceremony on May 26 at 5:30 p.m. in the AVEC parking lot.

Uintah High School will hold its graduation ceremony on May 27 at 5:30 p.m. at Coach Belcher Stadium. No tickets are required. This is a rain-or-shine event.

Congratulations to all the graduates!

Free Summer Lunch Program
The Free Summer Lunch Program, sponsored by Uintah School District, starts June 1.

In the Vernal area, lunches will be available at Ashley and Naples elementary schools Monday through Friday in June from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The curbside pick-up option will be available in June only because federal waivers that allowed this option end on June 30.

Beginning July 1, lunches in the Vernal area will only be served at Ashley Elementary and must be eaten on-site per federal regulations. Naples Elementary will no longer qualify as a location for the Free Summer Lunch program when the federal waivers expire on June 30.

On the west side of Uintah County, lunches will be available Monday through Thursday at the Randlett Community Center (11 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.), the Whiterocks Community Center (11 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.), Uintah River High School (11:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.), and at Richardson Park (11:40 a.m. to noon).

The curbside pick-up option will be available at these locations in June only because federal waivers that allowed this option end on June 30. Beginning July 1, lunches must be eaten on-site per federal regulations.

Lunches will be served free to all children ages 18 and younger. Adult meals can be purchased for $3.75. Exact change is required.

Celebrations
The Uintah High Choir Program’s advanced mixed choir, Polyphony, and advanced women’s choir, Luminosa, attended the State Choir Festival on May 13. Both choirs received superior ratings for their performances in a competition that featured the best high school singing groups from around the state.

Congratulations to Uintah High senior Laura Anderson on being selected by the Utah Music Foundation as the recipient of the 2022 Alana Cope Eaton Piano Scholarship! Anderson has been taking piano and violin lessons since she was 4 years old, has her own piano studio, and was the runner-up in the Instrumental Music category of the Northeast Region Sterling Scholar competition this year. After graduation, Anderson plans to pursue a degree in nursing with a minor in music at BYU.

Congratulations as well to Uintah High Track & Field athletes Kora Cook, Jordan Woodford, Chase Harding, and Slade Henderson. On Friday, Cook won the 5A state championship in the high jump! Woodford tied for 6th place in the event. Harding finished 6th in the javelin and Henderson finished 7th. The 5A State Track Meet continues today at BYU. Good luck to the Utes!

Finally, good luck to the UHS baseball and softball teams as they compete today at their respective super regionals! The baseball team faces the Jordan Beetdiggers on the road. After losing Game 1 yesterday, they’ll need to win Game 2 to force a third game in the best-of-three series. First pitch for Game 2 is set for 1 p.m. The game is being broadcast locally on NewsTalk 104.5 FM or 920AM KVEL.

The softball team beat the Viewmont Vikings in a windy Game 1 yesterday. Game 2 is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. today at Uintah High. It will be streamed live on www.channelv6.com by the Uintah High Student Broadcasting Team. Game 3, if necessary, will be played about 30 minutes after Game 2 ends. GO UTES!
