The purpose of the work session is to give the board time to review and discuss data collected by the district concerning the Friday schedule.

The agenda can be found on the district website by clicking on BoardDocs under the School Board tab.

The work session will be streamed live on the district’s YouTube channel.

Survey questions included skip logic; therefore, not all respondents were provided with all the questions.

The school board’s Jan. 30 work session on the Friday schedule will be an open meeting; however, the board does not plan to take public comment that night. The public will have the opportunity to provide comments during the board’s regularly scheduled business meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 8.

The board has stated its intent to make a decision about the Friday schedule during the Feb. 8 business meeting.

Uintah High NHS Induction

Uintah High School held an induction ceremony Monday night for the 54 new members of its National Honor Society chapter.

The inductees are Brooklyn Ailey, Daysen Allred, Stefani Barnett, Riata Bell, Paisley Bell, Gabrielle Bird, Cayden Bristol, Anya Brown, Emma Carri, Macy Carlson, Jackson Checketts, Justin Christensen, Genevieve Clark, MaeLee Coonradt, Kyrstin Dixon, Chloe Dutson, Sylvia Esplin, Chelsie Ferriera, Kyra Garrison, Lillian Harbison, Joseph Hardin, Genny Lee Huber, Matthew Isom, Kache Jenkins, Matthew Jensen, Candela Capelli-Jimenez, Daniel Johnson, Stockton Jolley, Bryckmen Kay, Cody Kolkman, Preston Laris, Treyson McKeachnie, Lauren Mckee, Paisley Merkley, Caledonia Montague, Kealyn Mortensen, Caitlyn Nay, Jared Peacock, Adaline Pettit, Ethan Pierce, Valeria Priego, Ciele Richardson, Daron Ross, Dylan Ross, Margaret Rousseau, Kaleb Sadlier, Alice Santospirito, Austin Seamons, David Semadeni, Zachary Shiner, Cole Wallace, Rooks Wilding, Aspen Williams, and Payson Young.

Celebrations

Congratulations to the Uintah High Girls Wrestling Team on winning the Region 7 title! The team received their trophy before last Friday’s home dual against Wasatch High. They beat Wasatch, then traveled to the Utah Duals State Championships on Saturday at Westlake High. They finished that dual tied with the Westlake Thunder, who are the defending 6A state champions and were ranked 3rd in the nation. Westlake won the dual on a tiebreaker. The Utes are back in action tomorrow at the Lady Templar Clash in Manti.

Congratulations as well to the Uintah U’ettes! They finished 3rd in the Region 7 competition last Saturday with 3rd place finishes for all three of their routines. Ashley Glazier placed 1st in Drill Down, Leaira Wilson placed 2nd and Jensyn Hamilton placed 4th. Glazier, Berlyn Bingham, and Kaylyn Sizemore earned All-State honors and Academic All-Region honors. Glazier also earned the Hero Award. Bingham, Sizemore, and Alexa McKee earned All-Region honors as well. The U’ettes compete in the 5A State Quarterfinals on Monday at Utah Valley University.

Last but not least, congratulations to Uintah High FFA member Emerson Hackford for placing 1st and winning $250 last week at the Utah Farmers Union Extemporaneous Speaking Contest. Also, congratulations to Uintah High’s Kamlyn Williams for placing 4th at the same event.

Upcoming Events

The Uintah High Boys Basketball Team hosts the Tooele Buffaloes today for a region game. Sophomores play at 3:30 p.m., followed by the freshman and JV games at 5:15 p.m. The varsity game tips off at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at www.uhsutes.com under the Tickets tab.
