This is the image for the news article titled Weekly District Update - May 7, 2021The weeks seem to be flying by and the end of the school year is fast approaching.

Today is the final day of National Teacher Appreciation Week. Across our district, students and community members took time this week to show their thanks to our amazing teachers. These displays of gratitude are totally warranted considering the impact teachers have in all our lives. Thank you, Uintah School District teachers, for the invaluable work you do!

On Wednesday, May 12, the Uintah School Board will hold a regularly scheduled work session and business meeting at Vernal Middle School. The work session will begin at 3:30 p.m., with the business meeting to follow at 6 p.m. The PDF of the agendas for both meetings can be found HERE.

During the business meeting, the board will celebrate Vernal Middle School teacher Kimberly Hawks as the district’s Teacher of the Year and Uintah High School Administrative Assistant Jodi Ryan as the district’s Classified Employee of the Year.

The board will also celebrate the district’s students of the month for May: Elizabeth Tamiz-Huerta (Ashley Elementary), Rowan Deletant (Davis Elementary), Joshua Harper (Discovery Elementary), Akosita Uasila’a (Eagle View Elementary), Peyton Jones (Lapoint Elementary), Straton McNeill (Maeser Elementary), Malaki Cox (Naples Elementary); Taylor Murray (Uintah Middle School); Gretel Fillerup (Vernal Middle School), Melanie Peacock (Uintah High School), and Izzabella Jensen (AVEC/Uintah Online).

The board’s work session and business meeting will be streamed live on the district’s YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/b0NFZhSmxZc

The deadline to submit artwork for possible display in the new district office is Friday, May 14. The district is looking for artwork from current and former students in all 2D mediums. All submitted artwork will be reviewed by the district's Art Selection Committee and artists will be notified of selections. Please contact district Arts Coordinator Lynna Kendall at [email protected] or 435-781-3100, ext.1014, for more information.

Congratulations to Uintah High’s Alexa Ivins on her Best Actress nomination for her role as Rona Lisa Peretti in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. The Utah High School Musical Theatre Awards will be presented in a special streaming event Saturday at 7 p.m. on the UHSMTA YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCb-_RaWKzYic0pGfPaurClw.
