Uintah County has experienced a rise in the number of positive COVID-19 cases in recent days. As one would expect, this is reflected in our schools as well. To keep our community better informed about case counts in our buildings, the district will now update its COVID-19 Dashboard at 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. The dashboard has been updated for today with the current numbers. It can be found here:

In the past 14 days, there have been seven confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Uintah High School and one confirmed case at Vernal Middle School. Nearly 110 individuals are currently on quarantine districtwide due to contact with a positive case at school. Another 20 students or staff are on quarantine districtwide due to contact with a positive case outside of school.
The district continues to work closely with the TriCounty Health Department to keep students and staff safe and keep our schools open.
On Friday morning, Uintah School Foods Coordinator Sherry Hardman was informed by the Utah State Board of Education that the district can continue to serve free breakfast and free lunch to all children 18 and under through the end of the 2020-2021 school year.
“We have also received approval to continue serving grab-n-go meals, free to all children 18 years old and under, as we are doing now, through the end of the school year,” Hardman said.
More information about free school meals, including the order form for free grab-n-go meals, can be found here:

The district is continuing to accept applications for the K-12 Broadband Grant it received from the state of Utah. The grant seeks to provide broadband internet access for students enrolled in district programs who do not otherwise have broadband internet at home or do not have adequate broadband internet speeds at home.
The application can be submitted online at
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/VRBRBLR. Paper copies of the application are also available in school offices and at the district office. Paper applications should be returned to the school or district office once completed.
