 The Uintah School District is hosting two free community performances of Utah Shakespeare Festival’s Every Brilliant Thing next week. The first performance is Thursday, Jan. 25, at Vernal Middle School. The second is Friday, Jan. 26, at Eagle View Elementary School.

 

Every Brilliant Thing is a life-affirming play. With humor and inventiveness, the story explores depression and hope, uncertainty and change, relationships and solitude, risk and resilience, guilt and forgiveness.

 

Auditorium doors for both performances open at 6:30 p.m. The performances start at 7 p.m.

 

NHS Induction Ceremony

The Uintah High chapter of the National Honor Society will induct 47 new members on Monday, Jan. 22. The induction ceremony program will be held in the Vernal Middle School auditorium. It will begin at 6 p.m.

 

UHS DECA Health & Wellness Fair

The Uintah High DECA chapter is hosting its first U Matter Health, Wellness and Resource Fair on Saturday, Jan. 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the high school. The event is free. Care packs will be given to the first 100 families who attend. There will also be awesome raffle prizes, including rec center passes, bowling passes, gift cards, and more. Tell your friends and family to come support Uintah DECA.

 

UHS Jazz Dinner Fundraiser

Tickets are on sale now for the 7th Annual Uintah High Jazz Dinner, which is set for Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. The dinner is a fundraiser for Uintah High’s Band program. It will be held at the Vernal Elks Lodge, 35 N. 300 West, this year. Visit uintahband.ludus.com for tickets.

 

Tickets on Sale for Something Rotten 

Tickets are available now for Uintah High Theatre’s production of Something Rotten! Set in 1595, the story follows the Bottom brothers, Nick and Nigel, who struggle to find success in the theatrical world as they compete with the wild popularity of their contemporary William Shakespeare. The musical will run March 1-2; March 4-5; and March 7-9. All performances will begin at 7 p.m. For tickets, visit uintah.ludus.com

 

New App for School Meal Info

MealViewer, the website that provides Uintah School District students, parents, and staff with information about the meals served at our schools, now has a free app. It can be downloaded for iOS and Android devices in their respective app stores. In addition to providing breakfast and lunch menus, the app includes the calories, carbohydrates, fats, and sodium for each menu item. You can access the same information on MealViewer’s website at schools.mealviewer.com.

 

Weekend Events

The Uintah High Girls Wrestling Team is in Orem today, competing in the Bruins All-Girl Invitational at Mountain View High School. The UHS Boys Wrestling Team is at home tonight for Senior Night. They face the Wasatch High Wasps in their final home dual of the season. JV matches start at 5:30 p.m. Varsity matches start at 7 p.m. The Utes’ 13 seniors will be honored following the varsity matches.

 

The UHS Girls Basketball Team and UHS Boys Basketball Team are on the road at Timpanogos High School tonight. The girls’ varsity game tips off at 5:15 p.m. The boys’ varsity game tips off at 7 p.m.

 

The Uintah U’ettes compete at Region tomorrow at Murray High School. Specific performance times have not been provided. The competition starts at noon.
