On July 13, he was honored at the Utah Rural Schools Association Conference in Price as the Northeastern Utah Educational Services (NUES) Region Administrator of the Year. The award was presented by Uintah Schools Superintendent Dr. Rick Woodford, who is the current chair of the NUES board of directors.

"Jayme has developed and implemented a model instructional coaching program where provisional teachers receive training and support to improve teaching and learning in the classroom," Woodford said.

"He has also led out in the implementation of research-based literacy curricula for grades K-12 in our district, ensuring that teachers are trained and well supported in the implementation," the superintendent said. "This has increased rigor and continuity throughout our schools."

Woodford praised Leyba for his positive contribution to the district’s continuous improvement efforts, which are focused on school culture and data-driven instruction.

"He is continually finding ways to help us be more efficient and effective in our operations and management of the district," the superintendent said, adding that the Administrator of the Year award is "a great affirmation of Jayme’s experience, efforts and abilities as an educational leader."

"Other school leaders across the state are noticing and acknowledging some of the great things that are happening in our district," Woodford said. "Jayme has always been motivated to work hard for students. I hope this award affirms his efforts and serves to inspire our staff to follow his lead in always putting the needs and interests of our students first."
