This is the image for the news article titled Weekly District Update - March 15, 2024Five Uintah High School seniors earned honors at Tuesday night’s awards ceremony for the Northeastern Region Sterling Scholar Competition. Cole Manwaring was named the Sterling Scholar in the Social Science category. Annabelle Johnson (Instrumental Music), Emberly Kinsey (Visual Arts), Kate Larson (World Languages), and Kaylee Russell (Dance) were each named as a runner-up in their respective categories.

The Northeast Region includes Sterling Scholars from high schools in Daggett, Duchesne, Morgan, Rich, Summit, and Wasatch counties, in addition to Uintah High. Congratulations to Cole, Annabelle, Emberly, Kate, and Kaylee! Kudos as well to their advisors Kay Lynn Holmes and Cassandra Dean, and to everyone who mentored this year’s Uintah High Sterling Scholars.

UHS Band & Orchestra Concert
Uintah High’s band and orchestra will perform their Region Concert on Tuesday, March 19, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The free concert will include performances by the concert band, percussions, and orchestra. It will be streamed live on the Uintah Bands Facebook page for those who cannot attend in person. The band and orchestra compete at Region on March 27 at Mountain View High School in Orem.

Celebrations
At least two members of the Uintah High FBLA Chapter qualified for Nationals this week at the State FBLA Leadership Conference in Layton. Emma Aycock and Slade Bowden both earned a trip to Nationals, which is being held in Orlando in late June. Emma finished 1st in Healthcare Administration. Slade finished second in Advertising. The other Utes who placed at State are Matthew Jensen (6th in Introduction to Financial Math and 9th in Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure); Ethan Pierce (7th in Accounting); Emma Aycock, Eliza Hallenberger, and Ethan Pierce (8th in Social Media Strategies); and Lauren Labrum (9th in Supply Chain Management). There is a possibility that some of the other students who placed at State will be bumped up in placings and will be able to compete at the National Leadership Conference as well, according to FBLA advisor Brandon Aycock.

Weekend Events
The Uintah High Softball Team and Uintah High Baseball Team are both in St. George for tournaments this weekend. Each team is scheduled to play two games today and two games tomorrow.

The Uintah High Boys Soccer Team is at Lehi High School today to play the Pioneers. The varsity game kicks off at 3:30 p.m., with the JV game to follow once the varsity game ends.

Uintah High Track and Field is competing tomorrow at Carbon High School in Price. The track meet is set to begin at 10 a.m.

The Uintah High Winter Guard is also set to compete tomorrow at Lehi High School. The competition begins at 10 a.m. The Utes are set to perform at 2:20 p.m.
