The board held a special work session with the Uintah County commissioners and clerk/auditor to discuss redistricting for school board elections. The board also held its regularly scheduled work session (audio recording) and its regularly scheduled business meeting (audio recording). Video of all three meetings can be found on the district’s YouTube channel.

During its business meeting the board celebrated the district's students of the month for December. The students are Costyn Colmenares (Central Cove Preschool); Bella Allred (Ashley Elementary); Gracie Cook (Davis Elementary); Paige Angus (Discovery Elementary); Honey Valenzuela (Eagle View Elementary); Trace Huber (Lapoint Elementary); Eliza Semadeni (Maeser Elementary); Khloe Melo (Naples Elementary); Lillian Harbison (Uintah Middle School); Brooklyn Fluckiger (Vernal Middle School); Carson Coltharp (Uintah High School); and Tayten Hammons (Ashley Valley Education Center).

Congratulations to these outstanding students and to everyone who supports them!

Members of the Uintah High Marching Band and Uintah High Orchestra have returned home from their trip to Hawaii to perform in the 2021 Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade. In addition to performing in the parade, the students had the opportunity to perform at Pearl Harbor and visit the USS Arizona Memorial where one student said, “There is an air of reverence and sorrow that buries itself deep into one's soul. The importance of this place is something that every person should hold in their mind.”

The Uintah High Choir, consisting of Polyphony, Luminosa (women’s choir), Virsonum (men’s choir), SoVoce and General Choir, will perform a free holiday concert Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The entire community is invited to attend. You can also watch the concert live on the Uintah High Choir Facebook page.

Finally, congratulations to the Uintah U’ettes on a strong start to their competition season. They placed third overall last weekend at the Wasatch Invitational, taking first in Show, third in Dance and fourth in Hip-Hop and Military. Individual members also earned recognition in the solo competition and 5A drill down. Addisyn Yack placed fourth as a soloist in the contemporary category, while Dance Captain Ashley Glazier placed second and sophomore Kenzie Franks took third in drill down. The U’ettes compete again on Jan. 8 at Bountiful High School.
