Weekly District Update
The Uintah School Board held a regularly scheduled work session and business meeting on Wednesday. Video of both meetings can be found the districtās YouTube channel.
During the business meeting, the board celebrated the districtās Students of the Month for March 2026: Valentino Cerecer-Solis (Central Cove Early Learning Center), Ileasi Wetzel (Ashley Elementary), Bridger Gurr (Davis Elementary), Jenaveave White (Discovery Elementary), Penelope Livingston (Eagle View Elementary), Jace McMickell (Lapoint Elementary), Remington Munns (Maeser Elementary), Ryan Nielson (Naples Elementary), Eli McCurdy (Uintah Middle School), Connor Wilkey (Vernal Middle School), Justin Christensen (Uintah High School), Cecilia Lamb (Ashley Valley Education Center/Uintah Online).
The board also celebrated:
The Uintah High Boys Wrestling Team, which won the Utesā 6th consecutive state title last month and 29th wrestling state championship in school history, and Coach Phillip Keddy, who was recognized by the Utah High School Activities Association as a Gold Star Coach.
At this year's state tournament, Gavyn DeCol (106) and Drayger Cloward (120) each earned their first individual state titles. Maddax Hacking (132) earned his second state title, and Ethan Sharp (126) and Rykan Hacking (138) each earned their third individual state titles.Uintah High Girls Wrestling individual state champions Leena Sharp (2-time state champ), Sadie Rhoades (3-time state champ), and McKinlee Collett.
Uintah High state champion swimmer Alexander Spainhower, who won the 4A state title in the 50 Freestyle with a school-record time of 21.42. Spainhower, who is a freshman, also medaled at state as a member of the school-record setting 200 Medley Relay Team and the 200 Freestyle Relay Team.

Safety Exercise Set for March 20
The Uintah School District will hold a large-scale safety exercise next Friday, March 20, at Uintah High School and Ashley Valley Education Center.
What to Expect: A large number of first responders and emergency vehicles, including medical helicopters, will be present at both Uintah High and AVEC. This is a safety exercise, not a real event. Signs will be posted as reminders. Please do not call Central Dispatch to report activity at either campus on March 20.
School Impact: There will be NO impact to elementary school students or students at Central Cove Early Learning Center. Friday, March 20, will be an online learning day for all 6thā12th grade students at:
Eagle View Elementary
Uintah Middle School
Vernal Middle School
Uintah High School
Ashley Valley Education Center
Educational services for students with complex needs have already been arranged. Students in grades 6-12 should complete Friday assignments by Sunday at midnight. This schedule change allows secondary teachers to participate in the safety exercise if they choose.
Closing Night for Frozen
The cast and crew of the Uintah High Theatre production of Frozen: The Musical take the stage tonight and tomorrow night for their final performances of a show that has wowed audiences. Tickets are still available for this family favorite at uintah.ludus.com, but theyāre going fast! The musical is an adaption of the Disney animated hit and features Princess Elsa, Princess Anna, Kristoff, Sven, Olaf and all the other fan favorites. Show times for the remaining performances is 7 p.m.
UHS Choir Concert
The Uintah High Choir will perform its Festival Concert, āJust One Step,ā on Tuesday, March 17, at 7 p.m. in the UHS auditorium. Admission is FREE. The performance will be streamed live on the Uintah High Choir Facebook page.
Mr. Uintah/Miss Uintah Tickets
The 2026 Mr. Uintah and Miss Uintah Competition is set for Wednesday, March 18, at 6 p.m. in the UHS auditorium. The event is moving to reserved seating this year. Youāll find the option to buy tickets in advance at https://uintah.ludus.com just below Frozen the Musical. Main floor seats are $11.25. Balcony seats are $6. Reserve your seats today and they'll be waiting for you on March 18.
Celebrations
Uintah High Robotics was represented by five students at the VEX State Championship last weekend. Veldon Jones, Kyle Hunter, Hayden Angus, Ryder Ottley, and Lucas Merryweather qualified for the playoffs with their RoboRaptor. Seven Utah organizations received trophies at the event, including the RoboRaptor team, which earned a Judges' Award.
Five Uintah Utes earned awards at the Northeast Region Sterling Scholar competition at UVU this week. Lauren McKee won in the Vocal Performance category and Daron Ross won in the World Languages category. Jackson Checketts (Skilled and Technical Sciences Education), Tobias Faucher (Computer Technology), and Hailey Rasmussen (Instrumental Music) were runners-up in their respective categories.
Weekend Events
The Uintah High Boys Tennis Team is hosting the Uintah Invitational this weekend. The Utes played Carbon High on this morning. They are scheduled to play Logan High at 3:30 p.m. today. On Saturday, the team takes on Deseret Peak High at noon. All matches will be played on the UHS Tennis Courts.
The Uintah High Baseball Team hosts the Cottonwood High Colts for a non-region game on Saturday. First pitch for varsity is set for 11 a.m., with the JV game to follow. The varsity game will be streamed live on the on the Uintah High Hudl Fan website.
Uintah High Softball is at the Warrior Elite Invitational in St. George this weekend. Today, the varsity team plays Snow Canyon (9 a.m.) and Crimson Cliffs (5 p.m.), while the JV team plays Crimson Cliffs (11 a.m.) and Snow Canyon (3 p.m.) Tomorrow, varsity plays Bingham (9 a.m.) and Salem Hills (11 a.m.), and JV plays Desert Hills (1 p.m.) and Salem Hills (3 p.m.)
The Uintah High Track and Field Team competes tomorrow at the Farm Bureau Invitational at Carbon High in Price. The meet starts at 10 a.m.
The Uintah Bowling Club will participate in the State Pepsi Tournament this weekend at the Bear River Bowling Center in Tremonton. The club consists of 25 to 30 students who bowl every Wednesday at Dinoland Bowl in Vernal. The club appreciates the businesses and individuals who purchased banners to sponsor the 12 lanes at the bowling alley on their behalf.
