Weekly District Update
The Uintah School Board hold a regularly scheduled work session and business meeting on Feb. 11, at the district office in Naples. Video of the meeting can be found on the districtās YouTube channel.
During the business meeting, the board celebrated the districtās Students of the Month for February 2026 during the boardās business meeting Wednesday night. The district Students of the Month are: Paisley Florence (Central Cove Early Learning Center), Dayra Ontiveros (Ashley Elementary), Stryker Perrigo (Davis Elementary), Avery Phillips (Discovery Elementary), Cedar-Ann Checora (Eagle View Elementary), Melanie Allred (Lapoint Elementary), August Batty (Maeser Elementary), Verity Judd (Naples Elementary), Logan Turner (Uintah Middle School), Landen Rogers (Vernal Middle School), Lydia Mathis (Uintah High School), and Whitnee Oaks (Ashley Valley Education Center/Uintah Online).
Congratulations to these outstanding students and thanks to everyone who supports them!
Special Board Meeting
The Uintah School Board will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 4 p.m. for the purpose of approving capital outlay projects for Fiscal Year 2027. The meeting will be held in the boardroom at the district office in Naples. The public is welcome to attend. The district intends to stream the meeting live on its YouTube channel. Those who wish to provide online comment for the board can do so HERE.
No School ā Feb. 27
The second trimester ends on Thursday, Feb. 26. There is NO SCHOOL on Friday, Feb. 27. It is a professional development day for district staff. The district office and district buildings will be open during business hours. The third trimester begins on Monday, March 2.
Schedule Change ā March 20
Friday, March 20, will be an online learning day for all Uintah School District students in grades 6 through 12.
This includes students at Eagle View Elementary, Uintah Middle School, Vernal Middle School, Uintah High School, and Ashley Valley Education Center. Students should still complete their Friday assignments before Sunday at midnight.
This change will allow secondary teachers the opportunity, if they would like, to participate in a safety exercise that is being sponsored by the district at Uintah High School.
Kindergarten Roundup
It's hard to believe, but the first Kindergarten Roundup for the 2026-2027 school year is less than two weeks away.
Some things to know about Kindergarten Roundup:
Ā· Kindergarten Roundup is optional.
Ā· The times listed for each school are a drop-in window. You and your child can come anytime during that time.
Ā· This event helps schools estimate how many kindergarten students to expect next year. Schools may also do brief, basic activities to see how ready a child is for kindergarten.
The schedule for this year's Kindergarten Roundup is as follows:
Ā· Discovery Elementary - March 4, 9 a.m. to Noon, and March 5, Noon to 2 p.m.
Ā· Eagle View Elementary - April 2, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Ā· Ashley Elementary - April 14, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Ā· Davis Elementary - April 14 &15, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Ā· Maeser Elementary - April 16, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Ā· Naples Elementary - April 17, 9 a.m. to Noon (By Appointment Only - Call the school at 435-781-3150 for more info or to schedule a time), and April 17, 1:30 to 3 p.m. (No Appointment Needed)
Ā· Lapoint Elementary - April 24, 1 to 4 p.m.
In Utah, children must be 5 years old by Sept. 2 to qualify for kindergarten attendance. Please bring the following items with you, as they are required for students to attend school: Birth Certificate; Proof of Residence; and Immunization Record - 5 DTP/DTaP/DT; 4 Polio; 2 Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR); 3 Hepatitis B; 2 Hepatitis A; and 2 Varicella (Chickenpox).
If you are unable to attend Kindergarten Roundup due to scheduling issues, please call your child's school.
Frozen Tickets on Sale
Tickets for the Uintah High Theatre production of Frozen: The Musical are on sale now at uintah.ludus.com. The musical is an adaption of the Disney animated hit and features Princess Elsa, Princess Anna, Kristoff, Sven, Olaf and all the other fan favorites. Performances are set for March 6-7, 9-10, and 12-4. There will be a matinee performance on March 7 that will include ASL interpreters, as well as an evening performance that night. Show times for all evening performances is 7 p.m. Tickets for this show are expected to go fast, so get yours today!
Celebrations
Congratulations to the Uintah High Boys Wrestling Team on their sixth consecutive state championship! Itās the third time the Utes have won six straight and the 29th wrestling team title in school history. Gavyn DeCol and Drayger Cloward each won their first individual state title, Maddax Hacking won his second individual state title, and Ethan Sharp and Rykan Hacking each won their third individual state title.
Congratulations as well to the Uintah High Girls Wrestling Team on their third-place finish at state! McKinlee Collett won her first individual state title, Leena Sharp won her second individual state title, and Sadie Rhoades won her third individual state title.
Congratulations to Uintah High Swimmingās Alexander Spainhower! He won the 4A state title in the 50 Freestyle with a school-record time of 21.42. Spainhower also set a school record in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 53.57, which earned a 4th place finish at state. He was also part of the relay team along with Jaten Barraclough, Jarom Thomas, and Keith Caldwell who set school records at state in the 200 Freestyle Relay (1:29.65) and the 200 Medley Relay (1:40.71), earning a 3rd and 4th place finish, respectively. The Uintah High Boys Swim Team finished 8th at state and the Uintah High Girls Swim Team finished 22nd.
Several Uintah High FFA members competed last month at the Area 6 Leadership Development Events (LDEs) and did exceptionally well! The Parliamentary Procedure Team of Daisy Liebhardt, Natalie Tenney, Sidney Anderson, Terilyn Williams, Page Liebhardt, and Natalee LaMoreaux placed 2nd overall. The Conduct of Chapter Meeting Team of Melody Liebhardt, Brinsley Thomas, Jackson Owens, Peyton Atwood, Dylan Merrill, Natalie Strasburg, and Lyndi Phillips also earned a 2nd place finish.
In individual events, Melody Liebhardt placed 4th in Creed Speaking, Page Liebhardt placed 2nd in Prepared Public Speaking, Sidney Anderson placed 3rd in Extemporaneous Public Speaking, and Natalee LaMoreaux placed 4th in Job Interview. In addition, several members earned top honors and will advance to state competition. State Star Awards ā Sidney Anderson (Agriscience) and Daisy Liebhardt (Ag Placement) Star Greenhand Awards ā Konner Hancock (Farmer), Taiyelor George (Ag Placement), and Sadee Slaugh (Runner-up, Farmer). Proficiency Award Winners ā Lillian Strasburg (Ag Sales), Sidney Anderson (Ag Education), Natalee LaMoreaux (Goat Production), and Daisy Liebhardt (Veterinary Science).
The following Uintah FFA members will receive the prestigious State FFA Degree during the state convention March 12-13: Sidney Anderson, Jayleigh Bartlett, Kenna Dudley, Daisy Liebhardt, Brooklynn McCormick, Conner McKee, and Kenzi Morris.
Weekend Events
The Uintah High Cheer and Stunt Team is scheduled to perform their Show routine at USA Spirit Nationals in Anaheim, California, tonight at 7:33 p.m. The awards presentation is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. The Utes competed Thursday with their Sideline routine and Band Chant. The Top 3 teams in are scheduled to compete Saturday at a time to be determined. The competition is being streamed live at https://tv.varsity.com.
