The Uintah School Board held a regularly scheduled work session and business meeting on Wednesday at the district office in Naples. A video recording of the work session and business meeting is available on the district’s YouTube channel.

The board celebrated the district Students of the Month for January 2026 during its business meeting. The students who were honored are: Taitum Sullivan (Central Cove Early Learning Center), Preston Scott (Ashley Elementary), RaeLynne Gayler (Davis Elementary), Harrison Ward (Discovery Elementary), Kohen Ward (Eagle View Elementary), Reese McKee (Lapoint Elementary), Jenna Batty (Maeser Elementary), Jackson Imeson (Naples Elementary), Bradley Butterfield (Uintah Middle School), Andrew Rehbein (Vernal Middle School), Gabriella Smith (Uintah High School), and Kadin Walker (Ashley Valley Education Center/Uintah Online).

The board also celebrated the Uintah High School Marching Band and Color Guard and the Uintah FFA Agronomy Team during Wednesday’s business meeting.

The band and color guard won the 4A State Championship. The members of the band and color guard are: Marleigh Allred, Ace Antillon, Tate Arrington, Libby Baker, Bobby Campton, Caleb Carlson, Madison Christianson, Nora Fouts, Brooklyn Hacking, Samantha Herbert, Tucker Hiatt, Liz Hirschi, Russell Koons, Jack Koski, Lucas Merryweather, Arwen O’Brien, Tristan O’Brien, Danielle Packer, Analyn Pead, David Pierce, Nathan Pratt, Serreniti Prisbrey, Oliver Rudas, Heber Taylor, Sadie Thomas, Aubree Thompson, Tayclynn Trujillo, Zoey von Arx, Avery Wallace, Aubrey Weston, and Lilah Wilde, with band director Brian Gibson, assistant band director Jason Winder, color guard coach Faith Carlson, and percussion instructor Elaine Koons.

Uintah FFA Agronomy Team members Conner McKee, Rope Williams, Sidney Anderson, and Konner Hancock also won their state competition. They will represent Utah at the National FFA Convention later this year in Indianapolis. The team was presented to the board by Uintah FFA advisor David Wilson.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

There will be no school and all district buildings will be closed on Monday, Jan. 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Classes will resume and district offices will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at their regularly scheduled times.

2026 Science & Engineering Fair

The 2026 Utah State University Uintah Basin Middle School Science and Engineering Fair was held Thursday at the Uintah Conference Center. It featured scores of imaginative and well-researched projects from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students from the Uintah School District, The Terra Academy and home school.

UHS 9th Annual Jazz Dinner

Tickets are on sale now for the 9th Annual Jazz Dinner, featuring music by Uintah High’s jazz band, Pandemonium. Frozen Tickets on Sale

Tickets for the Uintah High Theatre production of Frozen: The Musical are on sale now at uintah.ludus.com. The musical is an adaption of the Disney animated hit and features Princess Elsa, Princess Anna, Kristoff, Sven, Olaf and all the other fan favorites.

Performances are set for March 6-7, 9-10, and 12-4. There will be a matinee performance on March 7 that will include ASL interpreters, as well as an evening performance that night. Show times for all evening performances is 7 p.m. Tickets for this show are expected to go fast, so get yours today!

Weekend Events

The Uintah High Girls Wrestling Team is competing today and tomorrow at the Rockwell Rumble. Matches are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. today at Western Sports Park in Farmington. Saturday’s matches are scheduled to start at 2 p.m.

The Uintah High Boys Wrestling Team is competing today and tomorrow at the Thoman Memorial Duals in Green River, Wyoming. Today’s matches began at 12:30 p.m. at Green River High School. Tomorrow’s matches are set to begin at 9:30 a.m., with the finals slated to begin at 3 p.m.

The Uintah High Girls Basketball Team and Uintah High Boys Basketball Team are on the road tonight for region games against the Bulldogs at Provo High. For the girls, JV plays at 3:30 p.m. and varsity plays at 5:15 p.m. There won't be a freshmen game today. For the boys, JV and freshmen play at 3:30 p.m., sophomores play at 5:15 p.m., and varsity plays at 7 p.m. Advance tickets can be purchased at https://gofan.co. Tickets will also be sold at the door, where cash is accepted. The varsity games will be streamed live on the Provo High Hudl Fan website.

The Uintah High Swim Team is on the road tomorrow for the Park City Invitational. Races are slated to begin at 10 a.m. at the Park City Aquatic Center.

The Uintah High Cheer and Stunt Team competes tomorrow in USA Regionals at Syracuse High School. The Utes are scheduled to perform at 10:50 a.m., 11:26 a.m. and 5:12 p.m.

The Uintah U’ettes have their Region competition tomorrow at Jordan High School. Firm times for their performances have not been set, but the competition begins at 4 p.m.
