The Uintah High Marching Band and Color Guard capped their record-breaking season this afternoon with a clean sweep in every category at the Utah Red Rocks State Marching Band Championships in St. George! Prior to clinching the 4A state title, the Utes had earned a school-record 24 of 26 possible trophies with their show "There is a Monster Under My Bed."

The newly crowned state champions will receive a police escort when their bus arrives in Vernal on Saturday at about 5 p.m. The bus will travel from Lowe’s along U.S. 40 to 500 West, where it will turn left and follow 500 North to the high school. Roads will not be closed for the parade. All traffic laws should be followed. The community is invited to come out and welcome the band and color guard home.

School Board Meeting

The Uintah School Board will hold a regularly scheduled work session and board meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Eagle View Elementary School. The board will also hold its annual Impact Aid meeting at Eagle View that night.

The work session is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m., followed by the Impact Aid meeting at 5:15 p.m. and the business meeting at 6:30 p.m. All three meetings will be held in the school auditorium. Agendas will be available in advance.

The Impact Aid meeting will include school presentations by Eagle View Principal Chris Jones and Lapoint Elementary Principal Emily Arnold. Red Spirit Singers and Ute Indian Tribe Royalty will take part in the meeting as well.

Impact Aid is a federal program. It was designed to assist local school districts that have lost property tax revenue due to the presence of tax-exempt federal property, including Indian lands. Parents/guardians of all students who attend the Uintah School District and reside on Indian lands are encouraged to attend to offer suggestions about the district’s educational programs. Learn more about Impact Aid.

The district intends to stream the work session, Impact Aid meeting, and business meeting on its YouTube channel.

New Communication Tool

The district is excited to announce the upcoming launch of a new tool that will simplify how we communicate with families. Rooms is built right into our Uintah School District app and website. It offers secure, safe two-way messaging.

This addition allows us to bring the community closer together. From messages to and from educators, to events, lunch menus, and more – everything can now live in one place.

Rooms will become a primary method of communication between teachers, athletics coaches, club advisors and families. It offers one place for every message. No more juggling multiple communication apps, flipping between inboxes, or remembering different logins. You’ll get notified automatically of new messages via text, even if you haven’t downloaded the district app. Built-in moderation and other safety tools allow us to ensure safety of all communications.

We expect Rooms to be live and ready for messaging with educators on Monday, Nov. 17.  You can download the Uintah School District app for Android at https://aptg.co/Klb_d9 or for iPhone at https://aptg.co/tCMY6r.
