Halloween Costumes 2025
Parents and Students of Vernal Middle School,
This year, Halloween Day falls during our Red Ribbon Week—a week in which we place special focus on making good and healthy choices to avoid and prevent substance abuse. On Halloween Day, October 31, students may dress up or wear costumes to school. To maintain and protect the school’s learning environment, and out of an abundance of concern for safety, the following guidelines apply to wearing costumes. We appreciate your cooperation so that we can have fun, stay safe, and continue these activities in the future.
Guidelines for Costumes at School
Dressing up or wearing a costume is optional.
All costumes must follow school dress code guidelines. This includes covering the shoulders, chest, and midriff. Shorts or skirts must come to mid-thigh or longer. Appropriate shoes that protect students’ feet must be worn.
Students must be able to wear their costumes inside, outside, and for all school activities. Costumes must allow students to sit and move comfortably. Bulky or inflatable costumes that prevent students from sitting at a desk or participating normally in daily activities should not be worn.
No part of a costume should drag on the floor.
Costumes that include masks or makeup making it difficult to identify a student are not allowed. School faculty and staff must be able to easily recognize and identify each student.
Costumes must be in good taste and appropriate for school. They must not be gory, excessively bloody, or otherwise inappropriate.
All costume preparations must be completed before a student arrives at school. There should be no dressing up or applying makeup, hair color, or similar items after arrival.
The use of weapon-type props or items is not allowed (e.g., swords, knives, guns, etc.).
Any costume that significantly disrupts the school or classroom learning environment is not allowed.
Students who violate these guidelines will need to call their parents to make the necessary adjustments.
