The Uintah School District is pleased to announce Amanda Remington as the new vice principal of Uintah Middle School, pending formal approval by the Uintah School Board. Remington replaces Jackie Colton, who resigned for family reasons at end of the school year.

Remington brings more than a decade of experience in education to her new role, all of it within the district. A Uintah High School graduate, she began her career in 2014 as a 7th grade English Language Arts teacher at Vernal Middle School. She has also served as an instructional coach and, most recently, as the district’s ELA curriculum specialist.

UMS Principal Christina Viar-Jolliff said Remington’s experience and commitment to excellence make her an ideal fit for the vice principal position.

“Amanda brings a wealth of expertise to UMS,” Viar-Jolliff said. “Throughout her time in the district, she has demonstrated a deep commitment to instructional excellence and high expectations for student achievement. Her passion for supporting educators and her unwavering focus on student success make her a valuable asset to our Hawk Family.”

Remington holds a bachelor’s degree in English Education with an emphasis on teaching from Utah State University, a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instructional Design from Western Governors University, and a post-master’s certification in School Leadership from USU. She also holds endorsements in Speech Communications and Instructional Coaching.

“I am incredibly excited to join the Uintah Middle School community and to work alongside such dedicated educators, students, and families,” Remington said. “Above all, I want students, staff, families, and the community to know that I’m here to listen, support, and work collaboratively to ensure every student feels safe, respected, and valued.”
