Congratulations to Maeser Elementary’s Alisa Atherton, our Uintah School District Teacher of the Year!
We surprised her with the news at Ashley Valley Community Park today, where her class was eating lunch after a visit to the Utah Field House of Natural History Museum.
This is Alisa’s third year with the district and her 24th year as an educator. She brings extraordinary passion, expertise, and heart to her classroom every single day. Her commitment to student success goes far beyond the classroom walls and it shows.
Alisa's impressive credentials speak for themselves. She earned a master’s degree in Mathematics Education from Western Governors University and a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Utah State University. She is a national board-certified teacher in literacy, earned a K-12 Library Media Specialist endorsement, and holds Teaching English as a Second Language certification.
She has been recognized with the TEACH grant, the AI for K-12 grant, the FIRST LEGO League Discover grant, and has even helped lead two Guinness World Record literacy events. A published author, a grade-level team leader, and a tireless advocate for students and colleagues alike, Alisa truly embodies what it means to be an educator.
Thank you, Alisa, for all you do to serve our students and families in the Uintah School District!
