On Wednesday, Davis Elementary held a special assembly with representatives from i-Ready, an online program that helps teachers assess and personalize learning for students in reading and math.
During the assembly, the Dragons learned that they are the ONLY school in Utah to earn i-Ready Super Stretch School in mathematics and one of 84 schools in the nation to accomplish this achievement. The award is based on i-Ready Diagnostic data from the 2024-2025 school year, which showed that 57% of Davis students achieved their Stretch Growth Goals.
Super Stretch Schools are schools with 200 or more students that had 55 percent or more of students meet Stretch Growth goals. Stretch Growth marks the amount of growth a student should target to enter the path to attaining grade-level proficiency. It puts students who placed below grade level on their first diagnostic on a path to proficiency, and it helps students who placed on or above grade level maintain advanced proficiency levels.
During the 2022-2023 school year, 37% of Davis Dragons achieved their Stretch Growth goals. The following school year, that mark bumped up to 39%. Davis Principal Cris Labrum attributed last year’s 18 percentage point increase to the hard work of teachers, school staff, instructional coaches, students, parents and guardians.
“Our community at Davis is committed to helping all students learn the math and reading skills they need to be successful in school and in life,” Labrum said.
“We’re not content with 57 percent,” she said. “This school year’s goal is to have 65% of our students or more achieve their Stretch Growth goals. I’m confident we can do it because Davis Dragons are the best!”
