Also, second trimester ends next Friday. There will be no school on Monday, Feb. 27. It is a Professional Development Day for teachers and staff. Third trimester classes begin Tuesday, Feb. 28.

School Board Meeting
The Uintah School Board will hold a business meeting Wednesday at the district office in Naples to discuss and vote on the capital outlay plan for the upcoming fiscal year. The meeting is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. The agenda can be found on the district website by clicking on BoardDocs under the School Board tab.

The meeting will be streamed live on the district’s YouTube channel. Online input for the board can be submitted HERE.

Celebrations
Schools around the district have begun announcing their Teacher of the Year and Classified Employee of the Year. Here are the honorees who have been announced so far.

Teacher of Year: Kristina Lewis (Discovery Elementary) and Tanner Credaroli (Lapoint Elementary).

Classified Employee of the Year: Laura Hadden (Discovery Elementary) and Caitlin Firkins (Lapoint Elementary).

As more honorees are announced, we’ll recognize them. Each school’s Teacher of the Year and Classified Employee of the Year will be considered for district Teacher of the Year and Classified Employee of the Year. Those awards will be announced in April.

The Utah High School Activities Association recognized four Uintah High student-athletes with Academic All-State honors this week for the winter sports season. The Academic All-State recipients are Berlyn Bingham (drill team), Jacobi Christensen (girls wrestling), Alison Valadez (girls swimming), and Alec Rimmasch (boys swimming). Rimmasch also earned Academic All-State honors in the fall with the boys cross country team.

With more than 85,000 students participating in high school activities in Utah, the Academic All-State award is the most prestigious honor UHSAA presents to senior student-athletes.

USU Regional Science Fair
The annual USU Regional Science Fair is set for Wednesday at the Uintah Conference Center in Vernal. More than 100 middle school students from around the Uintah Basin are expected to compete for a chance to attend the state Science Fair in March. Wednesday’s event goes from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., when the awards ceremony will begin.

Cheer Review
The Uintah High Cheer Squad will hold its annual Cheer Review on Friday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. Admission is free.

Drill Review
The Uintah U’ettes will hold their annual Drill Review on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 5 p.m. Admission is free.

SpongeBob the Musical
Uintah High Theatre’s production of SpongeBob the Musical opens Friday, March 3. It runs through Saturday, March 11. All shows start at 7 p.m. For tickets, visit https://uintah.ludus.com/index.php.

Weekend Events
The Uintah High Girls Basketball Team will celebrate senior Kyrsten Bake before tonight’s varsity basketball game against the Cottonwood Colts. This is the final regular season home game for the Utes. Sophomores play at 3:30 p.m, followed by the JV game at 5:15 p.m. There is no freshman game. The varsity game tips off at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at www.uhsutes.com under the Tickets tab. Can't make it to the game? The Uintah High School Student Broadcasting Team will stream all the Main Gym games live on Channel V6 at www.channelv6.com.

Good luck to Uintah High girls wrestlers Jacelyn Rich, Aidyn Sharp, Kensingtyn Long, Kenna McCauley, Chanley Green, Jakailei Lujan, Beka Wagner, Sydnie Dick, JennaCee Harrison, Sophia Richens, Lily Batty, Emma Carri, Ciele Richardson, Kambre Wilhelm, Kayli Keel, Jacobi Christensen, Tessa Barton and Maddison Tenney in the 5A State Wrestling Tournament this weekend! The team is working to earn their first state title in program history after finishing second last season.

Good luck as well to Uintah High boys wrestlers Raleigh Thomson, Joshua Garcia, Rykan Hacking, Trevor Angus, Michael Alexander, Logan Holmes, Gage McMickell, Creeson Harrison, Dalton Sharp, Brody Rhoades, Talon Stevens, Mason Holt, Casen Wopsock, Christian Hartle, Dawson Shupe, Jacob Rhoades, Chase McCurdy, Austin Richens, Jett Swain, Gage Howard and Caden Young in the 5A State Wrestling Tournament this weekend! The team is working to earn their third consecutive state title and their 26th state championship in program history.

The girls and boys wrestling tournaments run Friday and Saturday at the UCCU Center on the campus of Utah Valley University in Orem. Matches are being streamed live on www.kslsports.com.

Last but certainly not least, good luck to Uintah High’s Artur Darii, Wake Murray, Wyatt Keiver, Kasey Partlow, Grant Moulton, and Paul Buschkowsky at this weekend's 5A State Swim Meet at BYU! The meet takes place Friday and Saturday. Darii, Murray, Keiver and Partlow will swim the 200-yard medley relay with Moulton and Buschkowsky as alternates. Darii is also competing in the 200-yard IM and the 100-yard breaststroke; Murray is swimming the 100-yard butterfly; and Keiver is competing in the 200-yard freestyle. The meet is being streamed live on www.kslsports.com.
