Special Education Employee of the Month

Special Ed Employee of the Month - Sapphire Chiles-Bentley

Sapphire was nominated by two of her colleagues, Joe Cottrell and Tamera Chew.

“Sapphire is always willing to take on whatever she needs in order to assure Uintah School District students are receiving the best possible education. She is a well-respected team member at Naples Elementary. She and her team are extremely dedicated to their students and the classroom is well structured to help some of the districts most vulnerable and needy students succeed. She works extremely well with parents and is very successful earning their respect and trust. She maintains a happy, positive and respectful environment that is conducive to student learning and growth.  I cannot say enough good about Sapphire and her whole team. Their trust in each other as a team, positive attitudes and calm way they go about the day lends itself well to a stellar classroom environment. --- Tami Chew

Much of my work deals with file compliance, assessment, and behavior. Sapphire’s files are always immaculate and in compliance. She always provides more than enough notification for evaluations and meetings. Even more amazing is the success she has with the students she works with. She inherited a really tough student recently and this student has made marked success under her care. I was recently in her classroom and this student was reading a book aloud (something I had never observed him do)! She later indicated that his IEP goal was to read a level A book but she is pushing him to read a level B. She is always thinking of how to help her kids not only meet their goals but exceed them! Sapphire is more than deserving to be this month’s special education teacher of the month.   --- Joe Cottrell
