Thursday's beautiful spring weather provided the perfect backdrop for students, family, community members and local first responders to join Lapoint Elementary staff in the school's annual Walk to School Day. Everyone gathered at Liberty Corner and was escorted by first responders, walking to school together to celebrate spring, healthy bodies and the hard work done by everyone at Lapoint Elementary this year.

"This has been an exceptional year in trying times and I'm so proud of all of the hard work of our students, their families and our staff," Principal Dennis Atkin said. "Our school mantra is: 'At Lapoint Elementary School we can do hard things!' And we do!"

First responders from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Uintah County Sheriff's Office, Utah Highway Patrol, and Lapoint/Tridell Fire Department escorted walkers along the way and made sure that help was on hand if needed.

The music teachers at Uintah and Vernal middle schools invite parents/guardians of middle school students to a Virtual Music Night to learn about opportunities for their child in band, choir, and orchestra next school year.

This night is for all students who will be attending VMS or UMS next year and their parents/guardians. During this event, which will be held May 4 at 7 p.m. over Zoom, you will learn about the music opportunities available at the middle school, you can register for classes, and you can rent an instrument (as applicable) all in the same evening.

To get started, please join the “Be Part of Uintah Music” group on BAND using this link https://band.us/n/a3a35er4B9Rd3. For questions, contact Mr. Nicoll (VMS) at [email protected] or to Miss Guzzle (UMS) at [email protected]

Finally, congratulations to Uintah High FBLA chapter member Harli Williams, who placed in the Introduction to Business Communication category at the FBLA State Leadership Conference. She has qualified to attend the FBLA National Leadership Experience.
