This is the image for the news article titled Weekly District Update - Oct. 9, 2020It’s been a busy week across the district as we move closer to Fall Break. Here are a few of the highlights:

The Uintah School Board met at Eagle View Elementary on Wednesday night for its regularly scheduled work session (audio recording: www.utah.gov/pmn/files/646239.mp3), semi-annual Impact Aid hearing (audio recording: www.utah.gov/pmn/files/646245.mp3), and business meeting (audio recording: www.utah.gov/pmn/files/646245.mp3).

As part of its business meeting, the school board celebrated the district’s students of the month for October. A video of the students of the month can be found on the district’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2tsuuskxAU&t=168s.

Also, on Wednesday, the district published a COVID-19 Dashboard on its website. The dashboard will be updated each Monday at 3 p.m. with the number of confirmed COVID cases in each school or district building to provide parents/guardians and district employees with information so they can make decisions in the best interest of themselves and their family.

Regarding COVID-19, the state of Utah has adjusted the quarantine protocol for students and staff who are exposed to COVID-19 at school. These adjustments apply to all K-12 schools statewide, including schools in the Uintah School District. The district had been using a “modified quarantine” protocol approved by the TriCounty Health Department.

Ashley Elementary School received some outstanding news this week! Ashley is one of no more than 100 schools across the country to be selected as a National Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Distinguished School.

Ashley Elementary was honored for its outstanding work with students who are English language learners. Principal Carrie Weldon said the school’s teachers, intervention aides and grade level aides and English language instructor deserve all the credit. “They work long, hard hours to make sure our students have the best instruction and that they meet all of the students’ needs,” Weldon said.

Schools will be closed on Wednesday, Oct. 14, for a Trade Day; and on Thursday, Oct. 15, and Friday, Oct. 16, for Fall Break. The district office will be closed on Friday. Classes will resume after Fall Break on Monday, Oct. 19.

Have a great weekend!
