Uintah School District breakfast, lunch plan for 2020-2021

The Uintah School District’s Child Nutrition Department has developed a plan to ensure that students enrolled in district programs receive nutritious meals. The plan also includes processes to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 during the 2020-2021 school year.

Breakfast
Students in attendance at all Uintah School District schools will be offered breakfast at school. Some students will pick their meals up in the cafeteria and take them to their classroom to eat. Some students will be served meals while staying in their classrooms. Others will pick up and eat their meals in the cafeteria. This will depend on the individual school plans, which can be found on the individual school websites.

Students enrolled in Uintah Online (UON) or other district programs who are not required to be in attendance during on-site breakfast service will be offered curbside grab-n-go breakfast Monday through Thursday. This service will take place at all schools in the district except Ashley Valley Education Center. AVEC students may pick their meals up from Uintah High School.

Grab-n-go breakfast service times will vary depending on individual school needs. Enrolled students, including students enrolled in UON, will be charged for meals according to their free/reduced/full pay qualification.

Those wishing to pick up grab-n-go meals must submit a meal order form to their assigned school no later than Thursday of the week prior to the meal service.

Students must pick up meals from their assigned schools. Again, AVEC students will pick up their grab-n-go meals from Uintah High. A parent/guardian can pick up meals for students so long as they have the student or students’ lunch number(s).

Others who are not enrolled in the Uintah School District, including preschool-age children and adults, may purchase breakfast at a price of $2.15 from any district location offering breakfast. However, the meals must be pre-ordered no later than Thursday of the week prior to the meal service.

Most grab-n-go meal service will be served from the kitchen or cafeteria doors.

No breakfast service will be offered at Uintah School District locations on Fridays.

Lunch
Students in attendance at all Uintah School District schools will be offered lunch at school. Some students will pick their meals up in the cafeteria and take them to their classroom to eat. Some students will be served meals while staying in their classrooms. Others will pick up and eat their meals in the cafeteria. This will depend on the individual school plans, which can be found on the individual school websites.

Entry and exit points in the cafeteria, as well as line flow paths, will be marked. Space markings set at 6 feet apart will be placed on cafeteria floors. Hand sanitizer will be provided before students reach the serving lines in the cafeteria. All students in attendance will be able to participate in lunch.

Staff who deliver meals to classrooms must change gloves between classrooms. When meals are delivered to the classroom, some food items will be pre-plated on the main tray. Offer vs. Serve regulations will be followed for the remaining items being offered. All items, including trays, utensils, milk, etc. will be handed to each student by staff.

All students will be charged for meals according to free/reduced/full pay qualifications.

Hand sanitizer will be provided in classrooms for students to use before and after eating their meals. We are asking that NO guests participate in on-site lunch service at this time.

For schools in which students are consuming lunch in the classroom, custodians will supply trash bags for each classroom. At most schools, students will pour liquids down the classroom sink while water is running, stack trays in a designated spot near the sink, and will place all other trash in a trash can, which is located on the tile near the sink.

After all students have disposed of their trash, the teacher or aide will put the trays in the trash bag, then put the trash big in the larger trash receptacle located in the pod or hallway near the classroom. This plan may be different at some schools.

Each classroom will be provided with cleaning supplies to use as needed. However, if a spill requires a custodian’s attention, the teacher or aide will notify the school office.

Students will be given a sanitizer to sanitize their own desks after meal service.

If the Uintah School District is on a 50 percent or 25 percent capacity plan, lunch should be scheduled in a manner that A.M. students are served lunch as close to dismissal time as possible, and P.M. students are served lunch as close to arrival time as possible.

Students enrolled in all Uintah School District schools will be offered curbside grab-n-go lunch on Fridays at their schools. A parent/guardian can pick up meals for students so long as they have the student or students’ lunch number(s).

Uintah School District Child Nutrition staff will be following these COVID-19 mitigation protocols:

1. All USD Child Nutrition employees will read and sign the required screening questions before clocking in for work.

2. Child Nutrition staff will wear masks at all times in the kitchen, cafeteria, and while working outside. The only exception will be if someone is in the kitchen office alone, then the face mask may be removed.

3. Child Nutrition staff will wash their hands and wear gloves as usual to prevent contamination of food.

4. High touch areas in school kitchens (door knobs, equipment handles, etc.) will be sanitized at least once every hour.

5. The head cook will come up with a plan for each kitchen that includes sanitizing high touch areas in the cafeteria at least once every 30 minutes when students are, or have recently been, present.
