Davis Elementary Mission, Vision, Goals

Our mission:
Davis Elementary students will begin to acquire the critical skills and attributes of a productive citizen.

 
Our vision:
As a learning community, we advocate for all students, provide quality education, and prepare our students for success now and in the future.

Our goals:
Davis Elementary
1. Using NWEA’s 50th percentile for reading on grade level, we will improve 10% from fall to spring. (We improved 4.5% during the 2006-07 school year)

2. 60% of Davis students (grades 1-5) will meet their fall to spring growth target in math, reading, and language. (Below are 2006-07 growth totals)

Kindergarten goals
80% of students will recognize and name 52 letters by Jan 31, 2008.
80% of our students recognize and name numbers 0-10 by Jan 31, 2008.
80% of our students knowing the four basic shapes by Jan 31, 2008

Year End Smart Goals
80% of students will know the sounds to 26 letters by May 25, 2008.
80% of students will write in the semiphonetic stage of writing on the Cell writing rubric by May 25, 2008.
80% of students will demonstrate the joining of sets with number 0-5 by May 25, 2008.

1st Grade goals
85% of students will test at “Within Word Pattern” on the Words Their Way assessment by the end of the 07-08 school year.

60% of students will meet their target growth from fall to spring on NWEA.

85% of students will reach 90% in accuracy and comprehension by the end of the school year on DRA.

2nd Grade goals
70% of 2nd graders will read @ 90 words per minutes by the end of the school year according to Dibels.

60% of 2nd grade students will meet their math target from fall to spring on NWEA.

3rd Grade goals
60% or more of Davis 3rd Students will reach their NWEA growth target in language, reading, and math on NWEA assessments from all 2007 to spring 2008.

4th Grade goals
70% of students will make their target growth in Math and Reading on the NWEA test from fall to spring.

5th Grade goals
60% of the 5th grade students will meet their growth target on NWEA from fall to spring in Reading, Language and Math.

The overall writing scores on the 5th grade CRT will increase 5% from 2007 to 2008.
(The score from 2007 was 67%)

Special Education goals
We will improve documentation showing at least 3 verbal parent contacts per student, per school year, concerning student learning and other student needs.

Each child will master at least one goal or objective on their IEP by the end of the school year.
