REPORTS

 

District Audit Report – Adult Education Data & Annual Student Membership Data:  Robert Foley, of Caldwell, Coombs & Foley, LLP, has completed the Audit Report for Uintah School District for Adult Education data and Annual Student Membership and reported his findings to the Board of Education. 

 

Uintah Schools Foundation:  Lori Olmstead and Wendy Mathis from the Uintah Schools Foundation gave a brief history of how the Foundation came about, how it benefits the District, and then invited Board members to attend the Storytelling Festival sponsored by the Foundation.  This is the fourth Storytelling Festival and will feature such award-winning storytellers as Donald Davis, Charlotte Blake Alston, Olga Loya, and Tim Tingle.  The Festival is scheduled for September 21 & 22 with events being held at the Naples City Park, Naples Elementary, Vernal Downtown Theater, and Uintah High School Auditorium.  Everyone is encouraged to attend.

 

 

BUSINESS

 

Approval of Board of Education Compensation Package:  A motion was made by Scott Ruppe that the compensation for Uintah School District Board of Education members will remain at $3,000.  If a Board of Education member does not participate in the medical insurance benefit, he/she may elect the medical insurance waiver.  Shane Frost seconded the motion; motion carried unanimously.

 

Approval of Policy 002.0500 Administrative Regulations:  (First Reading)  A motion was made by Scott Ruppe to approve Policy 002.0500 on first reading with a correction to one typographical error in Section 1.0.  Shane Frost seconded the motion; motion carried unanimously. 

 

Approval of Policy 002.0720 Public Appearances at Board Meetings:  (First Reading)  A motion was made by Scott Ruppe to approve Policy 002.0720 on first reading with the directive to delete Section 6.0 and reword Section 8.0 for second reading.  Shane Frost seconded the motion; motion carried unanimously.

 

Approval to Delete Policies:  A motion was made by Scott Ruppe to delete the following policies:  002.0600 Statutes and State Rules and Regulations 002.0700 School-Community Relations, and 002.0710 Advisory Committees.  Shane Frost seconded the motion; motion carried unanimously.

 

Approval of Resolution Authorizing the Issuance and Sale of up to $20,020,000 Aggregate Principal Amount of General Obligation School Building Bonds:  It was moved by Scott Ruppe, seconded by Shane Frost, carrying unanimously that a Resolution authorizing the issuance and sale of up to $20,020,000 aggregate principal amount of General Obligation School Building Bonds of the Board of Education of Uintah County School District, Uintah County, Utah; fixing the maximum aggregate principal amount of the bonds, the maximum number of years over which the Bonds may mature, the maximum interest rate that the Bonds may bear and the maximum discount from par at which the Bonds may be sold; providing for the publication of a Notice of Bonds to be Issued; providing for the running of a contest period; authorizing the advertisement for sale of the Bonds and the circulation of an Official Statement with respect thereto; and providing for related matters.

 

Approval of Revision to Uintah School District Substitute Teacher Pay Scale:  A motion was made by Shane Frost to approve the recommendation from the Uintah School District Human Resource Department that substitute teachers who hold a current teaching license and who have taught at least three of the previous five years, be allowed to move to the Basic Rate 2 salary lane without taking the Utah State University training.  Scott Ruppe seconded the motion; motion carried unanimously.
