Recognition of Mistalyn Leis for $1.3 Million Grant Award for Connections Program:  Thanks to the efforts of Mistalyn Leis, Uintah School District has been awarded the 21^st Century Grant in the amount of $1.3 Million for the Connections Program.  This will fund the Connections After-School Program at Eagle View, Lapoint, and Ashley Elementary.

 

Approval of CTE Purchase:  A motion was made by Shane Frost to approve the purchase of the Customized Electronic Portfolio System for Perkins/Tech Prep & NCLB Reporting Requirements.  Scott Ruppe seconded the motion; motion carried unanimously.

 

Approval of Policy 006.0050 Program of Studies & Graduation Requirements:  (1^st & 2^nd Reading)  A motion was made by Shane Frost to approve Policy 006.0050 as presented on first and second reading.  Perry Taylor seconded the motion; motion carried unanimously.

 

Approval of Medical Insurance Pool Participation:  A motion was made by Shane Frost to approve Uintah School District participating in the USBA Medical Insurance Pool for the next 3 years.  Scott Ruppe seconded the motion; motion carried unanimously.

 

Approval of Utah Retirement Systems Contributory Participation:  It was thereupon moved by Perry Taylor, seconded by JoAnn Cowan, carrying unanimously, that it therefore be resolved that the Uintah School District formally agrees to pick up 5% of the required member contribution for all eligible employees required to contribute to the Utah Retirement Systems Contributory Retirement Plan for the fiscal year 2007-2008 and for the fiscal year 2008-2009.  Uintah School District will continue to pay 5% as an employer contribution as outlined by statute (53A-17a-125).

 

Approval of Uintah School District Realtor:  A motion was made by Perry Taylor to approve Dennis Mott from Coldwell Banker of Vernal as the Realtor for Uintah School District.  JoAnn Cowan seconded the motion;  Scott Ruppe abstained; motion carried.

 

Approval of Naples Water Pipe Project:  A motion was made by JoAnn Cowan to approve the installation of an underground pipe which will be installed on Uintah School District property located near Naples Elementary.  Scott Ruppe seconded the motion.  Those in favor:  Scott Ruppe, Shane Frost, JoAnn Cowan, and Dr. Rodney Anderson.  Those opposed:  Perry Taylor; motion carried.

 

Approval of Eagle View K-8 Elementary Building Plans:  A motion was made by Shane Frost to approve the revised building plans for Eagle View K-8 Elementary.  Scott Ruppe seconded the motion; motion carried unanimously.

 

Approval of HVAC System for Eagle View K-8 Elementary:  A motion was made by Scott Ruppe to approve installation of AirHandler/VAV type HVAC system for Eagle View K-8 Elementary.  Perry Taylor seconded the motion.  Those in favor:  Scott Ruppe, Shane Frost, Perry Taylor, and Dr. Rodney Anderson.  Those opposed:  JoAnn Cowan; motion carried.

 

Approval of Uintah High School Roof Contingency:  A motion was made by Scott Ruppe to approve $44,740 from contingency funds to cover legal obligations related to the Uintah High School roofing project.  Shane Frost seconded the motion; motion carried unanimously.

 

Approval of UHS/AVEC Flooring Projects:  A motion was made by Shane Frost to approve $98,230 for carpet at Uintah High School and Ashley Valley Education Center.  Scott Ruppe seconded the motion; motion carried unanimously.

 

Approval of Vernal Middle School Portable Rental Budget:  A motion was made by Scott Ruppe to approve $28,000 out of capital outlay discretionary for the contract on the portable buildings used by Vernal Middle School.  Shane Frost seconded the motion; motion carried unanimously.

 

Approval of Vernal Middle School Asphalt Increase:  A motion was made by Scott Ruppe to approve $104,145 to complete the Vernal Middle School paving project.  Shane Frost seconded the motion; motion carried unanimously.

 

Approval of Vernal Middle School Lower Roof Funding:  A motion was made by Shane Frost to approve $34,230 for repair of the lower roof over the Vernal Middle School Auditorium.  Scott Ruppe seconded the motion; motion carried unanimously.

 

Uintah Recreation District/Uintah School District Memorandum of Understanding:  A motion was made by Scott Ruppe to approve the Memorandum of Understanding Memorandum of Understanding between Uintah Recreation Special Service District and Uintah School District.  Shane Frost seconded the motion; motion carried unanimously.
