Recognition of Office Professional of the Year, Lola
Searle: Lee Gagon, Human Resources Director, had the
honor of introducing Lola Searle to members of the Board of Education and
patrons present. Lola was chosen as the Office Professional of the Year by
the Utah Association of Educational Office Professionals; she was honored at a
conference banquet March 7, 2009 in Salt Lake.
Recognition of Business Office Statistical Reporting
Award: Superintendent Nelson extended congratulations to
Uintah
School District’s financial
team – a recipient of the 2009 Excellence in Financial Reporting Award presented
by the Utah State Office of Education. Uintah was one of only sixteen
districts in the state to receive this recognition.
Recognition of Regional Sterling
Scholars: Kay Baker, Sterling Scholar Advisor, commented
on the Regional Sterling Scholar competition which was held last week at
Uintah High
School, and then presented the Regional Sterling Scholar winners
from Uintah
High School to members of
the Board of Education for recognition of their accomplishments.
Recognition of State Qualifying Girls’
Choir: Aaron Merryweather, Advisor, introduced members
of Uintah High School Girls’ Choir who have qualified for State
competition. The choir then performed one of their winning musical numbers
for the Board and patrons present.
Recognition of National Qualifying FBLA
Students: Several members of Uintah High
School’s FBLA chapter have qualified to compete at Nationals
which will be held in Anaheim, California in June. Lori Gillman, Advisor, introduced the student
qualifiers and announced that the chapter was recently chosen as Outstanding
FBLA Chapter for the State of Utah.
Discussion with Dean Wes Holley from Utah State
University:
Dean Wes Holley shared his goals, objectives, and aspirations in partnering with
Uintah School
District to provide higher education opportunities to the
students of Uintah
School District.
Review of District Arts by Lynna Kendall: District Arts
Coordinator, Lynna Kendall, shared
the purpose and successes which have been, and can be, acquired through the arts
programs offered in the schools.
Approval of Policy 006.0080 Comprehensive Counseling and
Guidance Program: (1st & 2nd Reading) A motion was made
by JoAnn Cowan to accept on first and
second reading, the revisions to Policy 006.0080. Allen Huber seconded the
motion; motion carried unanimously.
Approval of Rules for Grand Piano Usage @ Vernal Middle
School: Tabled.
Approval of Adjusted FY 2009 Revenue
Sweep: A motion was made by Scott Ruppe to approve the adjusted funding sweep as
presented in preparation for revising the budget for this current fiscal
year. Allen Huber seconded the motion; motion carried unanimously.
Approval of FY 2010 Budget
Adjustments: A motion was made by Scott Ruppe to approve the FY 2010 budget adjustments
as proposed and authorize the Business Administrator to move forward with
preparation of the preliminary budget. Allen Huber seconded the motion;
motion carried unanimously.
Approval for Application for Qualified School Construction
Bonds: A motion was made by Scott Ruppe authorizing the Business Administrator to
move forward with the application for Qualified School Construction Bonds.
JoAnn Cowan seconded the motion;
motion carried unanimously.
