009.0600 VENDING MACHINE REGULATIONS
NEW POLICY
1.0 General Statement
1.1. To
facilitate compliance with the Utah Board of Education Rule R277-719,
2.0 All agreements for vending machines must be in writing, in a contract form, and approved by the local board of education.
2.1. This rule becomes effective when existing contracts expire.
2.2. Schools
shall follow generally accepted accounting procedures, including
3.0 Vending machine offerings shall be limited to the following specifications.
3.1. Vending machines distributing items such as pencils, notebooks, etc., shall be allowed at elementary schools.
3.2. If vending machines with student access are placed in middle or junior high schools, they will only sell water, milk, 50-100% fruit juices, non-caffeinated, non-carbonated sports drinks, and non-food/beverage items such as pencils, notebooks, etc.
3.3. Vending machines which have student access at the high school may dispense offerings of milk, water, 50-100% fruit juices, non-caffeinated, non-carbonated sports drinks, other nutritional supplement varieties that meet the nutritional standards set by Uintah School District’s Food Services Department, and non-food/beverage items such as pencils, notebooks, etc.
3.4. Vending machines with faculty-use only are accepted at all schools and District facilities.
4.0 Accepted uses of vending machine income are as follows:

5.1. Income from each vending machine must be recorded and reconciled with vendor invoices at least once each month.

5.2. Student Accessible vending machine receipts and expenditures reports for each fiscal quarter must be turned in to the district’s Business Administrator or designee.
5.3. Vending machine receipt and expenditure reports for each fiscal quarter, for faculty access only vending machines, must be submitted to the school principal, building administrator, or designee.
