PROCESS FOR STUDENTS
REVISES AND COMBINES DUE
PROCESS PROCEDURES FROM 007.0605 EXTRACURRICULAR POLICY

1.0 A
student who has been subjected to disciplinary action or penalty pursuant to
any district policy may, within 5 school days of notice of disciplinary action
or penalty, file an appeal. The appeal shall be presented in writing to the
principal clearly outlining the grievance, the desired outcome and the reasons
the outcome is justified.
2.0 The
grievant may be accompanied by his/her parent/guardian and/or by legal counsel
and may present evidence in support of the appeal. Legal counsel representing
the grievant shall be at the expense of the grievant and/or
parent/guardian. If the appellant
intends to be represented by legal counsel, he/she shall give notice to the
hearing officer at least three school days prior to the hearing.
3.0 The
principal or designee shall meet and consider the appeal within five school
days of receipt of the appeal. A written decision shall be rendered and mailed
or delivered to the applicant within five school days after the hearing.
4.0 The
grievant may appeal the administrator’s decision by submitting a written appeal
to the district superintendent within five school days of receiving the
decision.
5.0 The
superintendent/designee shall review the evidence and the superintendent shall
render a written decision within 10 school days of receipt of the appeal to his
level. The student, parent or guardian may request a meeting for clarification
with the Superintendent. The decision at the superintendent/ designees
level shall be final.
