003.0150 APPOINTMENT AND TERM OF SUPERINTENDENT AND BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR

 

REPLACES POLICIES 005.0400, 005.0410 AND 005.0420 ADOPTED 10/17/85

 

1.0                 APPOINTMENT AND TERM OF SUPERINTENDENT

1.1                 The School Board shall appoint a District Superintendent of Schools who serves as the Board’s Chief Executive Officer. (UCA 53A-3-301)

1.2                 The appointment of the Superintendent shall occur at the Board’s first meeting in June in even numbered years (UCA 53A-3-301)

1.3                 The Superintendent’s appointment is to be considered in February of even numbered years and he or she is to be advised by the end of March of each even numbered year of the Board’s intention regarding his/her reappointment.

1.4                 The Superintendent’s term of office begins July 1 and is for two years or until a successor is appointed and qualified.  The Superintendent qualifies for office by taking the constitutional oath of office. (UCA 53A-3-301)

1.5                 Nothing herein shall be construed to prohibit the Board from earlier renewing the Superintendent’s contract for a term not to exceed two years. (UCA d53A-3-301)

1.6                 The Superintendent shall comply with the laws of the State of Utah, the regulations of the State Board of Education, and Uintah School District Policies.

2.0                 BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR

2.1                 The Board shall appoint a Business Administrator whose term of office is for two years and until a successor is appointed and qualified. (UCA 53A-3-302)

2.2                 The appointment of the Business Administrator shall occur at the Board’s first meeting in June in even numbered years. (UCA 53A-3-302)

2.3                 The Business Administrator’s appointment is to be considered in February in even numbered years and he or she is to be advised by the end of March of each even numbered year of the Board’s intention regarding renewal or non renewal of his/her appointment.

2.4                 The Business Administrator qualifies for office by taking the constitutional oath of office and posting any required bond or undertaking. (UCA 53A-3-302)

2.5                 Nothing herein shall be construed to prevent the Board from earlier renewing the Business Administrator’s contract for a term of up to two years. (UCA 53A-3-302)

2.6                 The Business Administrator shall comply with the laws of the state of Utah, the regulations of the State Board of Education, and Uintah School District Policies.
