002.0200 BOARD MEMBERS: ELIGIBILITY AND QUALIFICATIONS

NEW POLICY REPLACES 002.0200 THE ROLE AND PURPOSE OF THE BOARD (APPROVED 10/17/85)

1.0 GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

Each board member must

1.1 Be and remain a registered voter in the District;

1.2 Maintain his or her primary residence within the local school board district from which the member is elected or appointed; and

1.3 Take the constitutional oath of office.

1.3.1 “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support, obey and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of Utah, and that I will discharge the duties of my office with fidelity.”

2.0 CONFLICT OF INTEREST

A member of the Board of Education may not, during the member’s term of office, also serve as an employee of the Board.
