U-PASS reports are based on academic performance in Math, Language Arts and Science as well as student performance on the Direct Writing Assessment ( DWA ) and the Utah Basic Skills Competency Test ( UBSCT ) required of all students in order to graduate. Additional indicators of U-PASS performance are attendance for all schools and graduation rate for schools which have a 12th grade.

Adequate Yearly Progress ( AYP ) reports reflect student academic performance in Math and Language Arts only. Additional indicators of AYP are attendance for grade 3-8 schools or graduation rate for grade 10-12 schools.
