What is Youth in Custody (YIC)?


According to the Utah State Office of Education YIC Standards and Guidelines, the Uintah School District "Youth in Custody" program shall provide educational service to individuals under age 21 and who have not received a high school diploma who are:

(1) In a state licensed detention center
(2) In the custody of the Juvenile Justice Services
(3) In the custody of Utah Division of Child and Family Services or an equivalent agency of a Native American Tribe recognized by

the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
